What is Inbox and How to Use It Effectively
Inbox is a dedicated notebook in Outline that acts as a temporary storage space for the content you send from other applications. For instance, when you come across an interesting article in your browser, you can use the Share Extension, select Outline, and the article will open in a separate page within the Inbox notebook. This notebook is automatically created for the incoming content, so whether you're saving articles, images, or files, they are all neatly organized in one place.
Once you're ready, you can easily move the content from Inbox to your main notebooks, whether they're stored locally or in the cloud (like Documents or iCloud). After that, you can simply close the Inbox.
Important Note: Inbox is not designed for long-term storage. It's meant solely for receiving data from external sources. If you plan to reinstall the application, be aware that the data in Inbox cannot be recovered. So, it’s crucial to move anything important to a more permanent location promptly.
User Guide: Your Built-In Resource
The User Guide is another essential notebook provided by Outline. This guide is automatically downloaded when you install the app and contains a wealth of information about the application's features, tips, shortcuts, and other useful insights.
If you ever close the User Guide, you can easily restore it by clicking on "Help" in the Apple toolbar and selecting "Restore User Guide." This will bring the guide back, fully intact.
A Cautionary Tip: Like the Inbox, the User Guide is not intended for storing your important data. While you can delete, modify, or experiment with the content within the User Guide, it's important to remember that any changes will be lost if the application is reinstalled or if the guide is reset. Always keep important data in a more secure location.
